An Exciting Milestone

Yesterday I was playing with Stinky in her room. I would stack a block on top of another block and she would knock it down. Pretty soon she was stacking the blocks and then knocking it down herself. It was pretty cool to watch her hand-eye coordination as she attempted to put one block on top of the other. It took her quite a few tries before she got it. I had to encourage her through out the process because I could tell there were times when she wanted to quit. But then she decided she was done. She put her hands on the floor, spread her legs out and slowly stood up. It was so matter of fact. I clapped and enthusiastically said yeah. She plopped down and continued to repeat the process, this time she would clap and smile. She was so proud of herself. Luckily Daddy came home just in time to see her do it a few more times before she moved on to other tasks. We tried to get her to duplicate the act again later but she wasn't interested. How fun is it to watch your child grow.

Happy New Year; It's the Year of the Ox

Happy New Year!! This was Stinky's first Chinese New Year that she was really aware of things. We dressed her in her Chinese outfit that her cousins gave her for Christmas. She was so excited to see her cousins, eat lots of Amah's yummy food, and receive her red envelopes. Boy did she sleep a long time after so much play. It is with that that we wish you a Happy New Year and a year of prosperity and luck.

My Picture Princess

My daughter is one of those children where people stop my husband and I constantly to tell us how beautiful she is. It doesn't help that she smiles at everybody. People are always telling us we should put her in commercials and have her model. So here it is. She is a picture princess because she loves to smile and it is really easy to get a cute shot of her. She even lets me put hats, sunglasses and bows in her hair. She is picture perfect.
How cute would she be in this dress, Vineyard: http://www.shabbyapple.com/pc-82-16-vineyard.aspx
So cross your fingers followers maybe soon you will see her modeling as a Perfect Princess

Dogs Are So Great to Have Around

Yesterday Stinky was laughing hysterically and I turned around to see what she was doing that was so funny. She had the TV remote in her hand and she was holding it up toward Lucy (the tan one) and Lucy would do a little jig around Stinky. Stinky thought that was the funniest thing she had every seen. She laughed and laughed and would repeat her movements and laugh all over again. It was so nice to see her interacting with the two loves of my life pre-Stinky. Sometimes I feel bad because after she was born they don't get as much attention and aren't able to go as many places, but I still love them just as much. So here is a tribute to my two favorite dogs:
15 Things about Humans That Annoy Dogs
1. When you run away int the middle of a perfectly good leg-humping.
2. Blaming your farts on me .... not funny.
3. Yelling at me for barking ... I'M A FRIGGING DOG!
4. How you naively believe that the stupid cat isn't all over everything while your out of the house. (Have you every noticed that your toothbrush smells like kitty litter?)
5. Taking me for a walk, then not letting me check stuff out. Exactly whose walk is this, anyway?
6. Any trick that invlobles balancing food on my nose ..... just stop it.
7. Yelling at me for tubbing my ass on your carpet. Why else did you buy carpet?
8. Getting upset when I sniff the crotches of your guests. Sorry, but I haven't quite mastered my handshake yet.
9. How you act disgusted when I lick myself. Look, we both know the truth; you're just jealous.
10. Dog sweaters. Have you noticed I have fur?
11. Any haircut that involves bows or ribbons. Now you know why we chew your stuff up when you are not home.
12. Taking me to the vet's for "the big snip" then acting surprised when I freak out every time we go back.
13. The sleight of of hand, fake fetch throw. You fooled a dog! What a proud moment for someone at the top of the food chain.
14. Leaving the toilet seat down. How else am I going to get a cool drink of water?
15. Invisible fences. Why do you insist on screwing with us? To my knowledge, dogs have yet to solve the visible fence problem!

To Discover at the Discovery Museum

I am coming to realize that there are good things about living in a big city. One of them is the Children's Discovery Museum. We took Stinky to the museum and she had a blast discovering a huge new world. What a great resource. We purchased a membership so we will be spending a lot more time here. When it rains, when it is too hot and when our house feels like it is too small. The look of learning is amazing. She practiced her crawling, socialized, enjoyed some books and received a little lesson in physics. How does that ball levitate in the air, staying right in the middle of the water that is spouting up?

The 10 Days of Christmas Travel

On the tenth day of Christmas travel we played snow once more. I was glad this was our last day because I was soooooooooo tired. My husband and I had spent the past few nights up way too late and after a good night sleep Stinky woke up every morning ready to go. I couldn't imagine living in the snow and having to bundle her up so much every time we went outside. This day was a bit colder due to the wind and the reflection of the sun sort of hurt her eyes. After a full day of fun in the snow we headed to a buffet. Yummy! Although I didn't eat as much as all the other Lim's it was still fun to have food choices. The next day we drove home and I had a week and half's worth of laundry waiting for me. Good Bye Vacation! It was so sad to see you go.
